Don’t Jump To Conclusions Regarding Roy’s Words

The big buzz last week was what Roy Williams said about rookie WR Dez Bryant. If you need your memory refreshed, Roy was asked during the Cowboys sponsor appreciation golf tournament what he thought about the addition of Dez Bryant to the team. Roy replied by saying “We got better, I think the team just got better” he then added another note by saying that he thinks people are thinking he is “coming in to take my job” but that’s not going to happen anyway. Now my problem is, that with all Roy said during that interview the only thing people pointed out was that he is challenging Dez, and him saying the only way he is going to start is by getting number 11 off the field. Hello people isn’t that the point of every position on every team, to battle fellow teammates for the starting spot? So what’s the problem with what he said? Another one of my problems is that everyone failed to point out the first thing Roy said about the team getting better with Dez now on the team, and that with Dez on the field he is going to come in and help the team win more games. What was he supposed to say? Was he supposed to say yeah Dez is going to come in and take his spot right away? Then he would have caught hell for making it sound like he is giving up on the team, right? I’m glad Roy said that, because it sounds to me like Roy is working hard to prove he is still an elite wide receiver in this league. Roy knows he has work to do to prove the media wrong, us fans wrong. Do you honestly think Dez took what he said to heart? I doubt it. I bet Dez took it just as it was…a challenge. Nothing more or nothing less. We all know the media will twist everyones words to make it sound negative, so before we jump to conclusions about what Roy or anybody else on this team says, just listen to everything they say because what the media points out just might not be meant the way it is brought to our attention.
