Miles Austin Last Big Game As A Cowboys

Cowboys fan get ready for the return of Miles Austin. If the boys are going to beat the Giants they will have to put up a bunch of points. Miles Austin return could not come at a better time. The Giants will spend all their time focussing on Dez Bryant and Jason Witten. With the Terence Williams showing the league that he can play on the outside Austin can go back in the slot where he performed at his best on 09. Romo will look for Austin early and often in this game. Even tho Austin is over paid and stinks today he will have a big game.

Dez Bryant Is Right… He Should Be Pissed

I have absolutely no problem with what Dez Bryant did on the sideline yesterday. For the past seven years when you watch ESPN or other network shows they talk about the lack of leadership on this team. The biggest question they had was could this team with Romo, Witten and Ware as the leaders could win a Super Bowl. So far the answer has been no and it seems like every season they throw games away and miss the playoffs. As a fan watching the game were you upset when the Cowboys get called for a holding penalty to stop the clock and then give up an 80 TD drive with 1 min left? I was pissed and when I watched Dez Bryant on the sideline show his emotion I was with him. That is a game the Cowboys gave away. You can complain about the defense giving up 600 yards and that is a huge problem. However they did force 4 turnovers and Romo and the boys could not put the game away. Dez Bryant is a game changer and getting targeted on six times is a joke.  The reason he wants the ball is because it will help the team win. Jerry Jones knows that along with anyone who watches this team. It is amazing that when Romo throws an INT he can yell at the wide receivers and blame them for running the wrong rout but when Dez is in single coverage and Romo makes the wrong throw Dez cant let him know. Passion is a good thing in football and Dez Bryant has that. However when you watch ESPN or any other network today they will tell you that the team that for years has no leadership is in trouble because Dez Bryant yelled at Witten and Ware. You cant have it both ways people. The Cowboys have been the same old story for the past 3 season it is about time for a change. So I am happy that instead of hearing the same old we gotta get better every week for the team we are talking about Dez Bryant yelling at everyone because he is tired of losing and frankly the rest of this team should be too.

Cowboys Vs Giants Preivew

20130907-093023.jpgThe time has finally arrived and the Cowboys start the season with the New York Giants. A lot has happened this offseason but the biggest move was locking up Tony Romo for the next 6 Years. With that 100 Million dollar contract will come more pressure from the fans and media to win if that’s even possible. Knowing that the NFL gave Romo and the Cowboys the favor of opening up with the New York Giants on Sunday night football so the world can watch. This is going to be a great opportunity for the Cowboys to show everyone that they are a threat in the NFC and they will. Below are 3 key reasons why the Cowboys will win.

1. Healthy- The Cowboys will be getting back Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, Berry Church and Demarco Murray this season. All of those guys are game changes. Don’t believe me? Watch the film of week one last year when the Cowboys beat the giants. Not only did Sean Lee have over 10 tackles he also forced a fumble. Murray ran for over 100 yard and slowed down the Cowboys pass rush. When you look at the Giants they are just not health. Nicks and JPP are banged up. They will be starting a rookie left tackle and their starting safety is out. The cowboys are going into this game in much better shape.

2. Dez Bryant- This is a scary man. Dez had been a monster this pre season and their is no reason for that to stop. Last year the big plays made Dez so great but now add an offseason with Romo to work on the little thing and communication he might be unstoppable. No matter what he will command a double team giving Witten or Miles Austin man to man coverage. Just having that threat on the field will give the cowboys a favorable matchup most of the time.

3. New Look Defense- The Cowboys 4-3 is going to fun to watch. Both Sean Lee and Bruce Carter should fit into their new roles well and the secondary will be solid. The reason why the switch was the right move is making Ware rush the passer every down. With a rookie left tackle Ware needs to rush every down. My biggest questions is will the Trend of forcing turnovers continue. If it dose watch out.

What You Should Worry About-

1. The Big Play- The Giants are a made for the big play. David Wilson and Victor Cruz can take the ball to the house at any time. With the cowboys having questions at safety you have to be worried about a 50+ yard TD.

2. Special Teams- This preseason the Cowboys have been terrible covering kicks. David Wilson has taken them to the house before and can do it again. Most Important is not giving the giants a short field to work with.

3. D- Line- Spencer is not going to play. Who is going to step up and get to Eli? I am not to sure but the Giants will be doubling Ware so someone will get a one on one matchup.

Bold predictions-

Dez Bryant throws up the X twice
Ware has 2 sacks and a forced Fumble

Berry Church has a INT

Murray has over 100 yards rushing

Cowboys Win 34-17

Defense Adding Pro Bowl Talent…By Getting Healthy

The main question this off-season has been: can Tony Romo get the Cowboys to the playoffs? When you watch ESPN or the NFL Network they will talk about how Romo won’t win the big one because he has come up short so many times.  Part of that is true, but they should also talk about how the defense gave up an average of 29 points per game during the final six games of the season. When you can’t stop anyone, any time the offense makes a mistake it just gets magnified. The good news for Cowboys fans is that the defense you see week one will be ten times better than the team that lost in Washington last season. Sure, the Cowboys drafted some good players, but the real addition will come with a healthy defense. Don’t believe me? Below is a list of players who will be back for the Cowboys this season:

Sean Lee – The heart and the leader of the Dallas Cowboys defense. Only playing in six games last season, Lee racked up 58 tackles. Lee also forced a fumble and picked off one pass. Lee is one of the Cowboys more constant defensive players and is one of the best playmakers in the NFL. Having Lee back on the field is going to be a huge upgrade for the Cowboys. After all, his replacement Ernie Sims in 10 games had less tackles, forced fumbles, and interceptions.

Bruce Carter – One of the most athletic linebackers in the NFL, Carter was having a great season until he dislocated his elbow. In 11 games Carter had 70 tackles and nice (nine?) of those were for a loss. This will be Carter’s third year in the league and the young linebacker has the speed to chase down Julio Jones and the “wow” factor when you watch him on film. Chris Collinsworth said it best during the Sunday night game in Atlanta: Carter  “is going to be a star.”

Jay Ratliff – The four-time Pro bowler missed 10 games last year with a bad groin. Even when he was on the field, Ratliff was not the same. He recorded only 16 tackles and had just zero sacks.  In the new 4-3 system, Ratliff won’t have to face as many double teams and should get more one-on-one match-ups. With the new coaching staff Ratliff has a chance to return back to his pro bowl form.

DeMarcus Ware – You have to love the fact Ware played every game last season. However, when you watch back the film you know he was not healthy at all. He played the second half of the year with only one arm he was not effective and his stats show that. In the first 8 games of the season Ware had 9 sacks. In the final 8 games he only had 2. His new role this year will be simple: hit the quarterback. He should definitely flourish in this new position.

Safety – Every offseason one of the biggest questions is: who will be playing safety for the Dallas Cowboys? Last year the answer was Barry Church. The problem was after 3 games he tore his Achilles tendon and was out for the year. Also coming back from injury will be Matt Johnson who struggled with a hamstring all season. The Cowboys need help at safety, but having both Church and Johnson back should be a nice addition to the competition.

Let’s hope the players above can stay healthy and the Cowboys won’t need to bring back Brady Poppinga to play for the NFC East title.

Cowboys Tag Spencer… Cut Sensabaugh

The Dallas Cowboys have made some big time moves today. The first is giving Anthony Spencer the franchise tag. I thought Spencer was going to be long gone after the season he had and the Cowboys cap problems. This past season Spencer had 11 sacks and lead the Cowboys in tackles with 95. With Kiffin coming in as the new defensive coordinated Spencer will move to defensive end.  This move will make the Cowboys have one of the best front sevens in the NFL. With players like Sean Lee, Bruce Carter and Jay Rattlif coming back from injury along Demarcus Ware and Spencer Kiffin will have a lot to work with. The Cowboys brass must feel the Spencer is only going to get better. As a player Spencer works hard and is great vs the run. This move will cost the Cowboys 10.6 Million in cap space. The wont be the only move for the Cowboys coming up. I expect Tony Romo to get a new contract, Dan Connor and Doug Free to restructure their contracts or get released. Money dose not grow on trees and if the Cowboys wana keep Spencer other players a have to get cut.

By cutting Sensabaugh the Cowboys have the worst safety in the NFL. Right now you are looking at Barry Church and Danny McCray as the starters going into next season. That just wont get the job done. Ever since Darren Woodson retired the Cowboys have not had a good safety. Jerry Jones can keep money and draft picks on cornerbacks but none of that matters if have no safety. Now if you look out there ad Ed Reed and Charles Woodson and think the Cowboys can get one of those guys your crazy. Reed and Woodson are going to care about two thing Money and going to a winning team. The Cowboys have no money to spend and who knows if they are close to winning it all. We do know that today the Cowboys took a risk like they have done before the question is will they go out and get a ball hawking safety or ignore the problem like Jerry Jones has done for the past 10 years.

The Sad Truth About Tony Romo

It is a very sad time to be a Dallas Cowboys fan. It seems like every season it’s the same story at the end of the year: a heartbreaking loss and missed playoff opportunities. Thanks to Tony Romo we had the same ending this year. Romo played terrible in the last game of the season and was the reason the Cowboys lost that football game. The reason why I am upset about this loss is because I felt the Cowboys were a better football team than the Redskins. However, Romo’s mistakes cost the team the game. As a fan that has always defended Romo he makes it hard after this loss to stand behind him. But after taking some time to sit back and review the season, there is only one reason the Cowboys were in this position and that reason is him.

It is amazing to think that Romo had led this team to five come-from-behind victories this past season. They would have had two more if Dan Bailey made that field goal in Baltimore and if they could have beaten the Saints in OT. The sad thing is that in the biggest game with everyone watching Romo failed to get the job done. This brings up the question of what to do with this quarterback. The answer I came up with is to just sit back and enjoy the ride. Ever since Romo has been the starting quarterback of the Cowboys they have always been in the hunt. Every single season — as long as he was healthy– they have been there. The Cowboys are always going to have a chance to win a football game with him as their quarterback. Why? Because after watching him on any given Sunday he’s shown that he can be the best player in the NFL and that is something special to watch.

That being said, will the Cowboys ever win a Super Bowl with Romo? I am not too sure. I do know that it only takes one season to change what your legacy is. Romo is going to be with the Cowboys for the next six or seven seasons. So, instead of bashing the guy and trying to get rid of him I am going to enjoy watching him play football. I’m going to hope he does win that Super Bowl and change his legacy. And if that happens I will be proud to say I was always behind him. Then the real questions will be: did you do the same?

Monte Kiffin To the Boys- Knee Jerk Reaction

The Cowboys are now going to be a 4-3 defense. This is a bold move by Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett but I think is a smart move. Below are just a few thoughts about the move and what it means for the Cowboys.

1. Anthony Spencer wont be back next season. This is upsetting because Spencer had a pro bowl season but to bring him back is going to be to expensive. I love what Spencer did this season but to pay him all that money to play D End wont happen.

2. Jay Rattlif and Jason Hatcher should be excited for this new system. Both players will get alot more one on ones and wont have to face a constant double team. This will not only make them more effective but prolong their carers.

3. Faith in the linebackers to become stars. Both Sean Lee and Bruce Carter were amazing when they were on the field last year. The Cowboys have faith they can keep growing and make this new defense work.

4. Kiffin is a proven winner in the NFL. I dont care about USC college is a different game. Kiffin has coach some of the best defense in NFL history. The reason he got the job is because his teams dont give up alot of points and creat turnovers.

5. Tampa Bay 2002 Key Player Compared to the Cowboys Roster-

DT-Warren Sapp/ Jay Rattlif

DE-Simeon Rice/ D-Ware

LB-Derrick Brooks/ Sean Lee

CB-Ronde Barber/ Brandon Carr

FS- John Lynch/ ?

The Cowboys roster defiantly got Kiffin excited but they will need to get a FS and more depth on the D-Line to make it work. Overall the Boys need a change and Kiffin is a great hire.

Cowboys Eyeing 72 Year Old To Coach Defensive

Looks like Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett are looking at 72 year old Monte Kiffin To Coach Defensive. This is a very interesting move and tells me a lot about what direction the Cowboys are going. First a little background on Kiffin. The creator of the “Tampa Two” Kiffin has been one of the best defensive minds in NFL history. I do like Kiffin style and his track record speaks for its self. The real question is should the Cowboys add a 72 year old to the staff? The reason why the Cowboys would be making this move is because they want to win now. There is no time for for Jason Garrett to mess around and hire a young guy. Garrett needs a proven defensive coordinated who will get the respect of everyone on that side of the ball. This is a interesting move by the Cowboys and lets see if Jerry Jones makes this bold move. That i am sure everyone and will criticize but at the end of the day might not be that bad.

Rob Ryan Fired….Good For The Cowboys?

Jerry Jones was not happy with the Dallas Cowboys and he told everyone that changes would be made. He proved that tonight with his first big move of firing Rob Ryan. A lot of fans and players are not happy with the move, but I think it’s a good thing for the Cowboys. The main question is how can Rob Ryan get fired when so much of his defense was injured during the season. Key players like Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, and Jay Ratliff, were all out for most of the season. Because of all that, I honestly believe that Rob got let go for the three main reasons that are posted below.

NFC East- When you look at the Cowboys defense they have not been able to stop the teams in the NFC East. Just look back over the past two seasons and how they have done. Last year against the Giants the Cowboys gave up 14 points in under four minutes. This year it was on Thanksgiving when RG III put up monster numbers against the Cowboys defense. Then, you can look at the last game of this season. Sure, the Cowboys had a ton of injuries, but the Redskins were playing with a QB who was on one leg. Overall the Cowboys gave up 25 points a game this season and that just won’t get the job done.

Switch To 4-3?-
This is very interesting to me. The Dallas Cowboys have great linebackers, however with Spencer going into free agency and the Cowboys with cap problems, it could be hard to lock him up. This move allows the Cowboys to switch up their defense and move to a 4-3. You would have Hatcher, Ratliff and Lissemore as your DT and then whoever they draft. You would have Ware as the DE and then our backers would be Carter, Lee, and Conners. Firing Rob gives the Cowboys an opportunity to explore these options.

Culture- We all know that Rob Ryan was loud and I mean very loud. Rob had no problem speaking his mind and talking trash to other coaches and players. I believe Cowboys fans loved that part about him. After having Wade Phillips and now Jason Garrett, it was always how Rob wasn’t a good fit for the culture they were trying to build and that is why he was let go.
Overall Rob Ryan has never been on a team that has a winning record. Most people hate this move, but this move tells me one thing: next year it’s all or nothing for Jason Garrett and this Cowboys staff. Jones is letting Garrett get the guys he wants and with the young talent this team better perform next season — no matter what defensive coach

Some Thoughts On Romo And The Boys!

I am so SICK of the Tony Romo Bashing!!

Anytime you have to tell your offense what it needs to do IF THIS OR THAT happens (especially at the line of scrimmage) you are doing too much!

Romo is the leader of this team but its not up to him to tell everyone their job. On that last interception, Romo told Murray what he needed to do IF something happens (which turned out to be a fake Blitz), you could clearly see on National Television what he told Murray to do (Hand Diagram and all), so if you an I could see that, I’m sure the Redskins saw that, it was a good play by the linebacker, he fooled Romo, faked as if he was going to blitzing but pealed back to cover Murray coming out the backfield, meanwhile Fletcher is blitzing right up the middle (where was the help? O-line responsibility).

Bottom line, Romo has been hurt too many times behind a very WEAK OFFENSIVE LINE(ALL YEAR AND THE PAST FEW YEARS). Don’t you think he is worried about if everyone is going to do their job, like block the right person? I think so!

Again, Romo needs HELP, and it starts with the offensive line we went from 300+pound line men to 250+pound Lineman come on y’all, we could barely hit the edges with these “quicker” (supositly) lineman the past few seasons. The Cowboys bread and butter on past teams were being able to bully the defensive fronts of any team. Last time I checked Romo doesn’t play DEFENSE either.

Lets put it like this COWBOY FANS, without Romo we would have won 5 games (AT BEST this past season) Romo IS THE QUARTERBACK for the next few years, so get use to it.

If Romo had the “toys” Aikman had he would be just as good, if not BETTER and just as successful as he was.

ENOUGH SAID ABOUT TONY ROMO, I still believe in you! You have kept this team from having to Rebuild (completely) People (including Cowboy Fans) tend to forget you were a UNDRAFTED FREE AGENT coming out of College. Next year you will hush them all up!!
